Monday through Friday, noon-1PM  “The Progressive News Hour”

Monday:  “Radio Free Activists”   Coverage of political and cultural actions in the metro Atlanta region with emphasis on making connections to world situations.  Features interviews of antiwar and other  activists plus a continuous musical track coordinated with the interviews, with a focus on music from Asia. Hosted by Brian Sherman

Tuesday:  “Unwrapped”  In-depth interviews of journalists, researchers, and other expert pundits on national and international issues.  Conducted by Chris Askew with headlines by the News Diva

Wednesday:  The Progressive Interview.  Two half-hour interviews conducted by Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive magazine and produced by Progressive cultural editor Elizabeth DiNovella, former news and public affairs director of WORT, community radio in Madison, WI

Thursday:   “Current Events”  A progressive talk show with interviews of Atlanta activists by host Adam Shapiro.    Often features Adam's own live at-the-scene recordings of demonstrations and other actions which he attends.  Frequently includes phone call-in's from listeners.

Friday:  RadioNation:  a revamped in 2006 RadioNation now hosted by Laura Flanders, former host of CounterSpin and author of Bushwomen [profiles about women in Ws administration and how they are used by the Bush regime] Interviews with progressive activists in the US.

Monday through Friday  1PM -2PM  “Hard-Knock Radio”

A  daily public affairs program by and for the national hiphop community with an emphasis on hiphop entertainers with progressive perspectives plus occasional specials with a progressive analysis of the music industry.  Originates from KPFA, the Pacifica station in Berkeley, CA.   Hosted by Davey D, Waylon, and others.

Monday through Friday 4PM - 8PM a progressive public affairs block

daily, M-F  4-4:30P  “Free Speech Radio News” [FSRN] News bulletins from correspondents throughout the world with a special emphasis on featuring reports from correspondents who are of non-European descent.  Anchored by Aura  Bogado.

daily, M-F 5-6PM  “Democracy Now” [DN] Daily progressive newsmagazine with regular host Amy Goodman and frequent co-host Juan Gonzalez.  Generally features two or three issues each program with interviews of activists and pundits.

4:30 - 5:00PM “Cooperative News”.  A program on Cooperative economic development

5-6PM  “Democracy Now”

6-7PM  “Just Peace”  A program focussing on activists struggling against economic and social injustice.  Focus on  international issues and on issues in the Deep South.  Hosted by Heather Gray with co-producer Nadia Ali

7 – 8 PM “R.A.P.”  [REVOLUTIONARY AFRICAN PERSPECTIVES]  Interviews and discussion from an internationalist Pan-African perspective making connections of political movements of those of African descent with global progressive movements for human rights.   Hosted by Sobukwe Shakura

Tuesday

4:30 - 5PM “ Labor Forum”  Interviews and updates on labor activities in the metro Atlanta region with frequent reports from the Atlanta Labor Council.  Produced with financial support from the Teamsters Union and from the Atlanta Labor Council.  Hosted by Gary Washington of the Teamsters Union and Laurie Brown of the Communications Workers of America Union.

5-6PM “Democracy Now

6:00 - 6:30PM  “Lambda Radio Report”  News and interviews about actions and events in LGBTQ communities in metro Atlanta.  Special emphasis on the connections between LGBTQ issues and issues regarding racism, able-ism, and classism.  Hosted by Charone.

6:30 - 7PM “Tuned To Nature”   WRFG's environmental program featuring interviews with metro Atlanta activists and news about local environmental and ecological issues.  Hosted by Lisa.

7 -8PM  “Alternative Perspectives”  Interviews with Atlanta activists in the lesbian, gay, bi and transgender communities plus news reports of LGBT activism elsewhere.  Hosted by Lisa Couvertier.

6:30 - 7:00PM  “HEALTH  ISSUES TODAY”  Half-hour interviews with medical and other health practitioners.  Interviews conducted by Dr. A. Boomkhar, MD

7-8PM  “CLASS CHRONICLES” Coverage through a class perspective of local, national, and international campaigns for economic justice with an emphasis on interviews with poor persons.  Hosted by Joan Baptist.

4:30 - 5:00PM  “Making Contact”  A montage of interviews and reports covering one major topic each program from a progressive perspective

4:30 - 5PM  “CounterSpin”  A look at the week's news from a progressive perspective on how  mainstream media distort specific news stories and totally omit others.  From the media watch group FAIR [ = Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting] Hosted by Janine Jackson and others.

 5 – 6PM  “Democracy Now”

6 - 7:30 PM  “What Good Is A Song?”  Public affairs from africanist and Black nationalist perspectives. Features the Friday-night Drum--detailed news reports from Africa, the Caribbean and New Africa read by Brother R. A. R. el  and Sister Courage. One special emphasis is political prisoners in the U.S., especially those here in the Atlanta penitentiary.    Produced by Fulani and Bilal Sunni Ali.

7:30 - 8PM  “Youth Views /  Youth Speak Truth”  Atlanta-area youth activists present progressive news and analysis from their perspectives.  Hosted on alternate weeks by two different teams [YV, YST]  of high school and college students.

Monday [Tuesday AM] - Friday [Saturday AM]  midnight- 3A:  NIGHTWATCH

NIGHTWATCH is a program progressive interviews and culture from various streams of experience of those of African descent.  There is a different host each evening.

Monday night:  “People Talk” Angelique features interviews with human rights activists.

Tuesday night:  “Expressions” Akhenaten -”the witch doctor”  presents various alternative life styles from an africanist perspective

Wednesday night:  Dominique presents a local perspective on the hiphop community and their issues.

Thursday night: “Meeting of the Inner Circle” Adama conducts a meeting of the “inner Circle” from an africanist perspective on spirituality

Friday night:  “The Healers” Kofi features issues in music and current events from a caribbean perspective.

Saturday

5-7P  “Radio Diaspora”  A public affairs program on the issues and experiences of recent migrants to metro Atlanta from caribbean and Latin American nation-states.   Hosted by Genevieve Williams

Sunday

10P - midnight  “Sunday Night Fiyah”   Progressive interviews and analysis on a wide variety of topics from an africanist/womanist perspective.  Hosted by Karen Mason.
