WRFG’s 2024 Staff

In addition to its dozens of volunteers, WRFG has three paid staff members:

Wanique Shabazz – he/him – FCC-Chief Operator & Station Operations Director-Facilities Coordinator

Wanique collaborates in the certification of WRFG broadcast Airshifters through seasonal broadcast classes. He acts as the Airshifter Supervisor to ensure compliance with FCC regulations and guidelines. With over 25 years at WRFG as the Station’s Operations Director, he continues to exercise his broadcasting expertise and organizational experience in service to our station. He also produces MAPPTIME JAZZ, every Monday from 12 am to 3 am.

Christopher Hollis – he/him – Finance Director

Christopher joined WRFG in 2012 and completed the Broadcast Class the following year. He was the audio engineer for the Labor Forum program for five years and the Operations Committee Co-Chair from 2018 to 2020. Most recently, he has acted as the Broadcast Coordinator alongside Amiel Tomlin, enhancing the station’s broadcasting efforts during the pandemic. He brings his community engagement and organizational experience to the position. He is currently co-producer of Rhythm and Resistance, every Friday from 10 am to 12 pm.

Laverne Perry – she/her – Development Director

Laverne previously served as the Assistant Director, Artist Relations and Educational Programming at the Rialto Center for the Arts, where she spent 27 years as a Rialto employee. She brings to WRFG her passion for music and the arts, alongside her invaluable knowledge in event management, artist relations, project and contract management, grant experience, and more.
