Hosted by Dr. Curtis Byrd. Byrd has been a jazz enthusiast for over 40 years, as well as a jazz/blues vocalist for several groups in the Midwest in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a jazz/blues DJ in the 1990s (KUSR-Iowa State University) and served as a guest host at WCLK 91.9 in the 2010s, here in Atlanta, GA.
The Byrdland Jazz Café is a dynamic musical experience, taking listeners on a journey through traditional Straight Ahead, Bebop, Cool, Fusion, Hard Bop to International Styles (e.g. African, Afro-Cuban, Latin, Bossa Nova) and contemporary forms of jazz, such as Acid and Funk Jazz. Each week the show has a dedicated segment for premier jazz vocalists, and instrumentists adding the sweet sauce to every show! Hope you enjoy! Blessings…
